The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts – 40 Years of Academic Excellence!

The students, faculty, families, alumni, and staff of this remarkable institution celebrated the LSMSA’s 40th anniversary this past weekend, Sept. 29-30. Friday featured “A Panel for the Decades” at the school’s Treen Auditorium. Major General, Lenny Richoux, USAF (ret), a member of the first class to graduate from the LSMSA, gave the keynote address: Forget 40 years…Let’s shoot for 100. His address was followed by a panel of LSMSA alumni from various years, faculty members and parents who answered questions about their experiences, school traditions and the like. The current students in the audience were able to learn and appreciate the history of the school directly from some of the people who shaped it. The panel ended with the LSMSA Alumni Chior leading the audience in the singing of the Alma Mater. A fundraising dinner was held at the Venue on Front Street on Friday evening and on Saturday, the LSMSA Parents Club treated the community to a picnic lunch on the school grounds.
