Lakeview FFA members recently participated in the Natchitoches Parish Fair. The week’s activities began with the FFA Carpentry contest where students were given the plans to construct a planter table. Materials were provided, and students were able to bring their projects back to school. Several students also entered their exhibition chickens as part of the growing livestock and poultry program at Lakeview High School. All students placed and received a ribbon with their birds. Senior exhibitor, Elizabeth Hightower, received grand champion for her New Hampshire hen. FFA Chapter Officers served as tour guides at the kid’s day portion of the parish fair by guiding elementary students throughout the fair exhibits. Exhibits included: Livestock animals, reading, making butter, banking, the fire station, etc. Elizabeth Hightower also entered the livestock show with her goat project and received 2nd in showmanship, 1st in medium weight, 1st in heavy weight, and grand champion.
