The Christmas in the Park Committee held their Pulled Pork Fundraiser on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the Town Hall. The fundraiser is the first of a few the committee has planned to help fund the Christmas Festival held downtown Goldonna every December.

The political forum held at the Goldonna School on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 6:30 was a huge success and well attended by the community. Mr. Ben Dupree served as the moderator over the forum as candidates discussed their plans for the future. Goldonna residents had the opportunity to ask questions and share their concerns about the direction of the Parish.
Creston Baptist Church will be hosting a Trunk or Treat social on October 31st from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The church will provide hot dogs and Frito pies.
The Goldonna Baptist Church is always busy serving the youngest population of Goldonna. Well, actually they are busy serving the youngest population in the world. Pastor Ben Dupree shared with me that there is less than one month left before their packing party for Operation Christmas Child. There is still time to turn in your donations to fill shoe boxes that will be sent globally to various youth. Kingdom Kids kicked off on Wednesday, September 13th. Kingdom Kids will operate every Wednesday along with the Natchitoches Parish School calendar. If school is in, chances are Kingdom Kids is in session enjoying a full meal, a Bible lesson and singing. Children are on Fall Break this week, the program will resume when school is back in session.
The River of Life Family Worship Center celebrated Pastor Appreciation Day on Sunday, October 8th. The church presented Pastor George Procell with a thoughtful gift for his many years of service to the church and the community. The church also held a special luncheon to say goodbye to long time members, Wade and Jenny Garner Smith as they make their way to Texas.
Lakeview High School Air Force JROTC would like to invite veterans and active duty service members to their Veteran’s Day Recognition Program. The program will be held at 10:00am on Friday, November 10th at the school. You will need to RSVP no later than November 6. Lakeview’s announced their Teacher of the Year, Suzanne Clement. Goldonna Elementary Junior High School announced their Middle SchoolTeacher of the Year, Kelly Norman.
The Goldonna Wildcats will also be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 23-27th. Monday – Wear Pink. Tuesday – Camo Day. Wednesday – Wear Red. Thursday – Team Up Against Drugs (wear your favorite sports jersey. Friday – Drugs are a Trick not a Treat (wear a non-scary Halloween costume).
If you are looking for a reason to be thankful, Pastor Tim Harris and Pam Harris shared that they are in the early stages of planning for a revival. Gerald Crabb; minister singer songwriter, will be visiting the church November 17-19. More details to come about this exciting revival weekend near Thanksgiving. The church will also be hosting a donation drive for the Minden Family Center for the month of October. Some of the items being sought are: shampoo, body wash, shaving cream, toothpaste/brushes, mouthwash, dental floss, deodorant, diapers, wipes, pull-ups, baby wash and lotion.
