Agriculture students and FFA members at Lakeview Jr./Sr. High School celebrated Manufacturing Month by touring Roy O Martin and Weyerhaeuser. Students learned about the history, safety policies, and skills needed to be hired at these companies. Students also were given a tour of the plants while wearing the proper personal protective equipment provided by Roy O Martin and Weyerhaeuser. These trips served as a connection between the safety and job skills taught in agriculture classes and applied them in a career setting.
Agriculture students/FFA members also participated in the NSU Engineering Technology and Manufacturing Day hosted on Oct. 23 on NSU’s campus. These students were able to interact with Boise Cascade, Roy O Martin, International Paper-Mansfield, ADA, and various departments on NSU’s campus such as Math, Engineering, and Biological and Physical Science. Students learned how their interests could be applied to a manufacturing career local to them.
A big thanks to Roy O Martin, Weyerhaeuser, and NSU for these opportunities!
