St. Mary’s Catholic School honors Carol Garcia – Rachal for annual Pink Out Campaign

St. Mary’s Catholic School recently raised funds from their annual Pink Out T-Shirt sales for October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.  These funds were raised in honor of Mrs. Carol Garcia – Rachal, a high school faculty member.  Mrs. Garcia has been an educator in Natchitoches Parish for fifty years.  After retiring from the Natchitoches Parish School System, she joined the staff at St. Mary’s in 2009 as the biology, anatomy and chemistry teacher.

Thanks to generous support from T-shirt sales, a gift of $3,300 was given to Mrs. Garcia as she continues her treatment with this disease.  She chose to share this gift with a family in need of assistance. The school designated Thursday, October 26th as Pink Out Day where the t-shirts were worn at school and at the varsity football game in honor of her. The donation was presented to her at halftime of the football game that evening with family members present.  Pictured are (l-r):  Lisa Guillet (Director of Development, St. Mary’s), Jessie Rachal, Carol Garcia-Rachal, Morgan Rachal, Principal Stephen Wren and Chancellor Fr.
