
Natchitoches Parish Clerk of Court David Stamey would like to let the public know qualifying information for this spring’s Municipal Elections scheduled for Saturday March 23, 2024 with any runoff to be held April 27, 2024.
In Natchitoches Parish, Municipal elections will be held for the City of Natchitoches and the Villages of Clarence and Powhatan.
For the City of Natchitoches, those elections will include the positions of Mayor, Councilperson at Large and the four council districts. For the two Villages, the positions on the ballot are Mayor, Chief of Police and three Aldermen.
The qualifying dates for all the positions are December 13-15 from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. at the Natchitoches Parish Clerk of Court office located in the Natchitoches Parish Courthouse.
Among the qualifications for candidates, the candidate shall be an elector of the municipality and shall have been domiciled and actually resided for at least the immediately preceding year in the municipality.
These elections will be held in conjunction with the Presidential Preference Primary Election and both the Democrat and Republican parties will elect State Central Committee Members and Parish Executive Committee Members.
For the City of Natchitoches positions, the qualifying fee is $75.00 plus if you are affiliated with the Democrat or Republican parties, there is another $75.00 fee for their State Central Committee and Parish Executive Committees. The Village’s qualifying fees are $40.00 plus $40.00 additional if the candidate is a registered member of the Democrat or Republican party. This fee is due at qualifying and should be paid in cash or cashier’s check.
