The Natchitoches Central softball team picked up an impressive 5-3 road win Thursday at two-time defending state champion Buckeye.
Buckeye (5-4) opened with a two-run bottom of the first, but NCHS (4-5) cut the lead in half an inning later on a solo home run to left field by Mallory Lacour.
The Lady Chiefs captured the lead, 5-2, scoring four times in the top of the fourth. An error scored one run, Morgan Robinson singled, scoring one run, and Lila Robertson doubled, scoring two runs.
Sydney Terrell went the distance in the circle for NCHS, scattering nine hits and allowing only one earned run.
Lacour showed the depth of the NCHS lineup by leading the Lady Chiefs with two hits in four at bats out of the seven slot in the batting order.
