Lakeview ROTC cadets earn highest rating on Air Force evaluation

Lakeview High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC cadets and instructors earned an “Exceeds Standards” rating during their recent Headquarters Air Force evaluation, the highest rating attainable!  Major Stacey Wiggins and Chief MSgt John Thomas created a dynamic, supportive learning environment with excellent community outreach. The instructors provided outstanding leadership in administering the cadet-centered citizenship program. The cadets performed exceptionally well and took great pride in leading and accomplishing their unit goals. The Lakeview High School Air Force Junior ROTC citizenship program is positively impacting the cadets, the school, and the surrounding community.

During the inspector’s debriefing Dr. Douglas McLane stated, ”Lakeview’s program has established the benchmark for others to follow.” Dr. McLane was very impressed with how the cadets took ownership of the program as well as the vast array of extracurricular activities AFJROTC offers. He went on to say that “students should be knocking down the door to be a part of this program.”

Lakeview’s AFJROTC has been on a good run lately. They recently finished 2nd place in the Air Force division at the Louisiana State Marksmanship Championship, established a new drone program, earned trophies at their Drill Team competitions, and are establishing a new Leadership and Employability Skills Career Technical Education Credential (CTE).

Major Wiggins and Chief Thomas would like to thank the cadets’ parents, Lakeview High School administration, and Natchitoches Parish School Board members for their support not only leading up to this inspection, but for their ongoing support in building citizens of character throughout the year.
