DA announces probation revocations, guilty pleas in recent cases

District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington announced the dispositions of recents cases in Division ‘B’ of the 10th Judicial District Court on March 20.

Devonte Howard, 29, of Abilene, Texas ,was previously convicted in January 2023 by pleading guilty to aggravated flight from an officer and was placed on felony probation. However, Howard violated the conditions of placed on him during the period of his probation. During a probation revocation hearing, the District Attorney’s Office presented evidence of Howard’s violations. Judge Lala Sylvester revoked his probation and ordered him to serve the original sentence of five years of incarceration.

Gwendolyn Wood, 40, of Campti, was convicted in 2018 by pleading guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance (Oxycontin) and was placed on supervised felony probation. However, Wood violated the conditions of placed on her during the period of his probation. The District Attorney’s Office presented evidence in court of Wood’s violations during a probation revocation hearing. Upon the conclusion of the hearing, Judge Lala Sylvester revoked her probation and ordered her to serve the original sentence of two years of incarceration.

Owen Scallion, 23, of Goldonna, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in January. As a result of the guilty plea to the charge, Scallion was sentenced to 15 years of incarceration at hard labor.

Chuck Foshee, Jr., 49, of Robeline, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in January. As a result of the guilty plea to the charge, Scallion was sentenced to 12 years of incarceration at hard labor. Assistant District Attorney Jason Methvin prosecuted the cases.
