The Natchitoches Coalition on Homelessness recently held its 2nd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Celebration. The NCOH wants all of its volunteers to know that their hard work and dedication is valued and highly appreciated. Without volunteers, it would be had for the coalition to reach its endeavors in meeting the needs of individuals and families.
Unknown to many, right here in the community, there are families and seniors going to bed without having a meal. The only meal many children receive is the one they receive at school. To ensure that the coalition is reaching out to those in need, there are volunteers who faithfully transport many people to the monthly Share A Meal using their own vehicles and contacting each other once they become aware of a family or individual in need. Through connections with various agencies, the coalition is able to provide resources such as temporary housing, furniture, and food to people experiencing an emergency situation.
