
LAFAYETTE – Led by Peter Kautz’s 14th-place individual finish, the St. Mary’s golf team came in seventh in the boys’ Oschner Health LHSAA State Championships wrapping up Wednesday at The Wetlands.
The Tigers carded a two-day 713 score with a 351 card in the final 18 holes Wednesday. They were the only central Louisiana team to qualify for the Division IV state tournament.
Kautz followed his opening 80 with an 82 for a 162 total. Mixon Bankston was next on the St. Mary’s scorecard at 173 (85-88) to finish 25th.
Other Tiger golfers on the card were Cole Yopp, with a 16-shot improvement Wednesday (102-86) for a 188 total, Bode Blackmon (95-95) at 190, and Ethan Busby (129-125) 254.
In the girls’ tournament, St. Mary’s eighth-grader Lilly Boyd improved by five shots in Wednesday’s final round, finishing with a 211 score (108-103). She beat 12 other girls in the tournament.
