Dear Citizens of Natchitoches,
As the dust settles on the recent mayoral election, I find myself reflecting deeply on the journey we’ve traveled together. In the wake of a very aggressive Mayoral campaign, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you, regardless of how you cast your vote.
Our community has been through a tumultuous time, marked by community wide passionate debates, differing opinions, and, at times, unprecedented divide. Yet, amidst the fervor of political discourse, there were moments of unity and shared purpose that truly inspired me.
To those who supported my candidacy, I am humbled by your trust and confidence. Your belief in my vision for our community fueled me with determination and purpose, and for that, I am profoundly grateful.
To those who supported the opposing candidate, I want to express my appreciation for your engagement in the democratic process. While we may have had differing views on how best to move our community forward, your passion for our shared home is undeniable.
But beyond the ballot box, it is our shared humanity that unites us. Regardless of political affiliation, we all want what is best for our families, our neighbors, and Natchitoches as a whole. Moving forward, let us not dwell on the divisions that may have been created throughout this election process, but instead, let us work together to bridge the gaps that could potentially separate us. Let us seek common ground, foster understanding, and embrace the richness that diversity brings to our community.
Our strength lies not in our differences, but in our ability to come together, to listen, to learn, and to grow. Together, we can build a community that is stronger, more resilient, and more inclusive than ever before.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your passion, your dedication, and your commitment to our community. It is an honor and a privilege to have served this community for the 28 years prior to this election, and I am hopeful about the possibilities that lie ahead as we chart a course toward a brighter future, together.
With gratitude and optimism,
Lee Posey
