The Natchitoches Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning off of Grace Avenue.
Natchitoches Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Grace Avenue and Dixie Street on May 27 around 1:55 am in reference to gunshots in the area. While officers were responding they were notified by Police Communication Officers that a vehicle crashed on Washington Street near Texas Street and driver was suffering from several gunshot wounds. Officers were able to render aid to the victim while other first responders were arriving on scene.
Detectives with the Natchitoches Police Department arrived on scene and while speaking with officers were able to develop information about the suspect. With that information investigators located, Shaliya County, (B/F, 22 y.o.a of Natchitoches) at her residence where she was arrested without incident for attempted second degree murder. She was placed in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.
The victim was transported to a hospital in Rapides Parish where they are listed in stable condition.
