An officer assigned to the Splendora Police Criminal Interdiction Unit in Texas conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on May 31 due to a traffic violation on US 59 north bound main lanes. During the traffic stop the officer had reason to believe criminal activity was taking place. A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle and the driver identified as Gary Hamilton from Natchitoches. Hamilton had three bags of marijuana and one bag of ecstasy concealed on his person. Officers also located a plastic bag concealed under the center console that contained approximately 507 grams “1/2 kilo” of methamphetamine.
Hamilton was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail and booked without incident. The narcotics were destined for Natchitoches, but again…the driver just didn’t make it. The Splendora Criminal Interdiction Unit takes pride in what they do on the highways everyday to combat the smuggling of illegal contraband.
