The Natchitoches City Council unanimously voted down an agenda item at its June 10 meeting to authorize the provision of local match funding around $40,000 to the Rapides Area Planning Commission for a Federal Transit Administration grant to support capital/operating assistance projects for non-urbanized public transportation systems under Section 5311 of the Federal Transit Act. The Commission was requesting local matching funds to support the continued provision of rural transit services for the general public in the city as the pilot project the commission was operating is coming to an end.
