Natchitoches Parish Schools Superintendent Dr. Grant Eloi announced at the June 11 board meeting that Danna LaCaze, Director of Special Education, was recently announced as a Fulbright Leaders for Global Schools Fellow.
The Fulbright Leaders for Global Schools Program is a professional development opportunity for K–12 school and district administrators from the U.S. These administrators will travel to Finland for a 10-day immersive, international experience, and they will gain a deeper understanding of their roles as leaders in creating students who are ready for the global economy.
The Fulbright Leaders for Global Schools Program in Finland will consist of briefings, panel discussions, seminars, and events with the aim to provide an overview of Finland’s education system (at national, municipal and school level), school leadership, National Core Curriculum, teacher training, and other relevant themes. Participants will visit schools in different parts of Finland, and the program will include an introduction to Finnish culture through cultural events and engagement.
The Fulbright Leaders for Global Schools fellowship covers program related costs including travel, lodging, professional development, and cultural activities.
Other agenda items included:
Approve English Learner Coordinator job description, whose salary will be paid for by Title I funding
Advertise for bids for technology technician vehicles. The purchase of official technology department Technician vehicles will allow for department technicians to deliver technology to the various schools in the district, as well as bring any tools or equipment required for its installations, and network maintenance without forcing ownership of a vehicle hauling tools and orders to be a job requirement. This will also allow all members of the department to quickly bring small and medium orders to schools without needing to coordinate other members of the department in order to utilize personal vehicles. Ultimately, this will expedite the deployment of mobile devices issued to schools to either replace damaged and outdated devices or to supplement available inventory, which has been a strained process during the pandemic and lockdowns, as well as increase network up time as tools and parts needed for routine repairs will be stocked in the vehicles.
The NPSB Technology Department would like to solicit bids for 3 vehicles meeting the following criteria:
New – Model Year 2024 or Newer
Midsize SUV
Only 2 rows of seating.
70 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind first row seating.
Base Trim or Standard Features
Delivery Must Occur before 9/30/2024
