Gorum man arrested in domestic disturbance

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a Gorum man in connection with a domestic disturbance near Mora according to Sheriff Stuart Wright.

NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau deputies responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a domestic disturbance with a knife involved on June 17 around 5:10 pm in the 100 block of Mora-Gorum Road near Gorum.

Deputies say upon their arrival, they learned that a person identified as Carl Mobley Jr. got into a verbal argument with his grandmother. During the argument, Mobley allegedly grabbed his 75-year-old grandmother by her neck and pushed her into a wall. Mobley’s father then intervened attempting to stop further abuse but Mobley retrieved a knife and chased his father into his grandmother’s home.

The grandmother then persuaded Mobley to calm down and leave the residence.

Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS was summoned to the scene to assess the grandmother for injuries. She was released without transport.

Responding deputies interviewed the victims, witnesses, collected information for an offense report then began to look for Mobley.

A short while later he was located and arrested without incident. Deputies seized the 8 inch Bowie style knife as evidence.

Carl Mobley Jr., 25, of Gorum was transported and booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center charged with 1-Count of Domestic Abuse-Aggravated Battery and 1-Count of Domestic Abuse.
Mobley remains in the Natchitoches Detention Center awaiting bond.
