Construction on the new Natchitoches Parish Courthouse addition unearthed deep wells under the rear parking lot, off of St. Denis Street. The Journal was informed that several items including glass jars and shards of pottery were uncovered at the bottom of one of the wells. At time of publication, the Journal was unable to find out what had been done with the items.
Some history was shared with the Journal that a house used to sit at this location and that several post and beam homes along Fourth Street also have wells hidden underneath their foundations.
