The Natchitoches Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning on North Fifth Street.

Natchitoches Police Department officers heard several gunshots in the 1100 block of North Fifth Street on June 29 around 12:09 am.  Upon officers arrival they located the victim who had crashed their vehicle into a ditch.  Officers began to render medical attention to the victim while waiting on other first responders to arrive.

The victim was transported to the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center and later to a hospital in Shreveport where they are listed in stable condition.  

This investigation is ongoing and the Natchitoches Police Department will release more details as they become available.
