Jamison Waxley has always been a very sick little boy. Finally, after four years of hospital stays, surgeries, and countless doctor appointments, Jamison was diagnosed with Job Syndrome.
Job Syndrome is a very rare, primary immunodeficiency disorder. There are only 300 known cases of Job Syndrome and Jamison is the only known child to have it.
Which for Jamison means, ant bites and mosquitoes bites easily give him staph infections. A simple cold means weeks of hospitalization. Any of the basic sicknesses that we all face have the high probability of taking his life. So, Jamison cannot play outside like normal kids.
When he’s outside extra precautions have to be made. His friends and family are raising awareness of this disease because it is so rare and because the fact that a four year old has it is unimaginable.
His mother Whitney Perot had to quit her job that she loved because of the amount of weekly out-of-town doctor appointments that he has each week. Jamison is having to undergo immunotherapy each month and thankfully so far it’s working. However, it is very costly even after insurance. But this is something he will have to have for the rest of his life in order to survive.
His family is throwing a Co-Ed Softball Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Parc Natchitoches in order to raise money for Jamison’s immunotherapy. There is also a GoFundMe set up for Jamison and Posey’s is selling T-shirts with the proceeds going to “Fighting With Jami.” His mother also has several raffles set up with gift certificates donated by local businesses in the hopes of raising more money.
