
When discussing an a budget adjustments agenda item at its Aug. 6 committee meeting, the Natchitoches Parish School Board learned that there was a projected decrease of 76 students is anticipated in grades K-12 in FY 2024-25 on October 1, 2023, as compared to the prior fiscal year. This is a projection based on experience from 2018 to June of 2024. Solving the truancy problem will help solve this problem.
E Lab and Middle Lab will have increases that haven’t been seen at these locations in a long time. Magnet is slightly down. The City schools are slightly static.
Goldonna numbers have been up and down all week. On Aug. 6 the school is down 12 students from where it was the same time last year. Last time he checked Eloi said it was at 92. They had very little online registration. Eloi said he can update the board at its meeting next week after there’s been a week of school. Until Oct. 1 a lot of the numbers will be in flux.
The board approved a resolution at its Feb. 15 meeting to order and call a special election to be held in Consolidated School District No. 7. Voters passed it at the polls. The purpose is to give residents of the Goldonna community the opportunity to raise funding through the tax to allow the Goldonna school to remain open.
