The City of Natchitoches Fire Department received a dispatch to 1001 Harling Lane on Sept. 9 at 7:42 am. Engines 1 and 2, Rescue 1, Truck 1, C1, C2, C3 and C4 all responded to the incident. Upon arrival a single story brick structure was found with heavy smoke coming from the eves and fire coming from the carport and rear kitchen window. The Engine 1 crew made entry and began extinguishing the fire. It was reported that the occupants were not in the structure but there were two family pets inside that were found during the search that were not able to be saved. The fire was extinguished and the cause is undetermined at this time.
