Lakeview coach Lawrence Seawood Jr. is still looking for answers after his team lost its third consecutive game, in a third consecutive shutout – this one at the hands of Woodlawn of Shreveport, 48-0, the second Class 4A school to hand the Class 1A Gators a shutout loss.

“It’s a schedule that gets you ready for district, that gets you ready for the post-season,” Seawood said. “We knew going in, it was going to be tough.”

The Gators are just a young, small Class 1A team that is trying to learn as they go.

“I have a couple of guys who are inexperienced,” Seawood said. “I guess they’re learning the hard way.”

But while the Gators didn’t come away with any points, Seawood said there were positives to come out of the loss.

“The kids were pumped up for the game, going to Independence Stadium,” he said. “They played hard. They didn’t give up on me. They played with a lot of passion.”

Seawood said he isn’t letting himself get down about the tough road he and his team are on either.

“I was raised not to quit,” he said. “I think that way every day of my life. The kids know that, no matter what or how hard we play, I’m going to be there until someone says otherwise.”

The Gators will play host to DeQuincy this week.
