Visiting Novelist Reads at Local Open Mic Night

Natchitoches’ literary and music scene continues to grow as evidenced by a capacity crowd at an “Open Mic” event at the Storybrew Café on Front St., Thursday, September 19. This month’s event featured author Lenore Weiss who read from her latest novel, Pulp Into Paper, and answered audience questions.

After the reading, the Open Mic Night featured local singers, songwriters, musicians and poets. The Open Mic Nights are a monthly event and are in their third year of bringing recognition to local creatives. These fun events are organized and emceed by local artist Mary Striegel.

Open Mic Night is the second Thursday of the month. October’s event will feature NSU Vocal student Gabriel Pollo who will perform Latino selections.
