DA announces life sentence in first degree murder case

District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington announced the guilty plea and sentencing in a homicide case.

Kendrick Cox, 33 of Natchitoches, pleaded guilty and was sentenced for first degree murder relating to robbery and stabbing of a victim in 2022. According to NPSO Detective Jared Kilpatrick who investigated the case, evidence revealed Cox robbed and stabbed the victim to death. When the victim’s body was located in an oxidation pond about two weeks after the incident occurred, it had apparent numerous stab wound and lacerations.

In the 10th Judicial District Court, Ad-hoc Judge Brady O’Callahan accepted the guilty plea from Cox and sentenced him to life imprisonment without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.

The sentence was ordered to be served consecutively to another life sentence that Cox is already serving, relating to a murder he committed in Calcasieu Parish. Special Prosecutor Cliff Strider, III prosecuted the case.
