Bringing Domestic Violence Out of the Shadows

Trinity Episcopal Church, located at 533 Second Street, will host a talk about domestic violence on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 pm. The Reverend Kristen Paul, a domestic violence survivor, will lead the discussion, along with a representative of the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

The discussion will focus on raising awareness and will include statistical information about domestic violence, how to be an advocate and ally for those living with domestic violence, resource information from the LCADV and the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team (DART), and stories of survival. The talk is appropriate for anyone over the age of 13.

“One of the biggest reasons domestic violence is allowed to continue is that it is not talked about enough and is left to lurk in the shadows,” said Rev. Kris. “Together, we can shine a light into these dark places and make a difference in the lives of so many living in fear and abuse.”
