City seeks artistic residents to help beautify new roundabout

Do you consider yourself to be an artistic, inventive, or imaginative person? Well, here’s an opportunity to exercise that creativity to serve your community!

Natchitoches Mayor Ronnie Williams, Jr., is seeking creative individuals to serve on a team to generate ideas for enhancements to be installed in the center of the new traffic roundabout that is being constructed on University Parkway at its intersection with State Highway LA-504.

Although the main purpose of the new roundabout is to provide safer travel to motorists, this new facility also provides an opportunity for our community to express its uniqueness through the addition of enhancements in its center. The proposed enhancements could consist of gateway signing, landscaping, lighting, creative artwork, or other aesthetically pleasing elements to be determined by the team of appointed individuals.

As this team accomplishes its work, it must keep in mind that whatever enhancements are proposed are subject to the requirements of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, since University Parkway is a State highway. In addition, the cost for the construction and maintenance of these enhancements will be borne by the City of Natchitoches. So, although the saying, “the sky’s the limit,” won’t exactly apply to this endeavor, there is still plenty of latitude in the range of creative enhancements that can be constructed at this location.

Citizens who are interested in participating on this Roundabout Enhancement team should contact the Office of the Mayor by calling (318) 352-2772 or by e-mailing Mrs. Azizah Hamilton at the following e-mail address: ahamilton@natchitochesla.gov.

The deadline for submitting names for consideration is Thursday, October 31, 2024.

We look forward to hearing from you!
