On November 14, 2024 Lala B. Sylvester granted a motion for summary judgment filed by defendant The Board of Supervisors for the Louisiana System d/b/a Northwestern State University regarding the case of the murdered Northwestern State University Football player Ronnie Caldwell Jr. at the Quad Apartments on Oct. 12, 2023. All the plaintiffs claims against NSU were dismissed with full prejudice.
