The LSHoF and Northwest Louisiana History Museum hosted a delightful concert and beloved community tradition Tuesday, December 3. The 16th annual Multicultural Christmas Concert featured an eclectic variety of music and dance, all at no cost to attend. Thirteen different acts performed everything from dance to poetry, violin pieces, and choral performances. The Junior Classical League of the LSMSA joined with the Greek & Latin students of the Louisiana Scholars’ College to sing Christmas carols in Greek and Latin. The talented young women of the Dazzling Dance Divas gave a wonderful performance, delighting the audience by dancing to “All I Want for Christmas is You”. The LSMSA chorale sang a series of pieces in English and French. Several groups from Natchitoches’ Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints sang carols. The concert ended with the traditional singing of Silent Night by the performers and audience.
The annual Multicultural Christmas Concert is more than a concert, it is a wonderful way to showcase the incredible range of talent among our area’s young people. From dance to vocal performance, bass and violin, the young people of our parish have a wealth of talent.
The event was a great deal of fun, but had a serious purpose, raising funds for Cane River Children’s Services, a stalwart of the local nonprofit scene since 1978. The agency operates a home for foster children, provides transitional living classes to assist them when they grow older, as well as counseling services. This worthy cause is always in need of assistance in furthering their mission to our parish’s children.
