The Natchitoches Police Department has identified Derek Wayne Nash (B/M, 24 y.o.a. of Natchitoches) as a suspect wanted for attempted second degree murder.

Natchitoches Police Department officers and Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1400 block of Texas Street on Dec. 7 around 9:21 pm in reference to a gunshot victim. Upon officers and deputies arrival they located the victim suffering from two gunshot wounds and immediately began to render aid while other first responders were arriving to the area. The victim was transported to a hospital in Rapides Parish where they were treated and released earlier today.  

While on scene investigators and officers spoke with several witnesses who were able to identify Derek Nash as the suspect. Detectives also canvassed the area for bullet casings and evidence connected to the shooting.

This investigation is ongoing and the Natchitoches Police Department will release more details as they become available.
