Literacy Night brings fun, learning to Natchitoches Jr. High

Natchitoches Junior High-Frankie Ray Jackson School recently hosted a successful Literacy Night, filled with engaging activities and community support. The event offered students and their families a chance to embrace the joys of reading and creativity in a festive environment.

Highlights of the evening included games, bookmark-making, and story-writing activities that encouraged children to explore their imaginations. Families also enjoyed a visit to the Natchitoches Parish book mobile and took home free books to continue the literacy celebration at home.

Adding a creative touch, students had caricatures drawn and snapped fun photos at the selfie station provided by Bank of Montgomery. Meanwhile, Ash the Gator and the Natchitoches Fire Department served hot dogs, and Cane’s provided sweet tea and lemonade to keep attendees refreshed.

As the event wrapped up, every participant received a S’more kit and a free book, ensuring the spirit of the night carried on.

The school extended its gratitude to all community partners and volunteers who made the evening possible, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in fostering a love for literacy among young learners.
