Responders work scene of single vehicle crash

A Campti man suffered non-life threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Dec. 18 around 6:12 am on Hart Road north of Campti according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #9 with extrication equipment, NPSO Rescue, and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a single-vehicle crash with injuries and entrapment on Hart Road just south of Travis Guin Road north of Campti.

Responding units arrived on scene finding the sole-occupant of the vehicle trapped in the wreckage, suffering from what appeared to be minor non-life threatening injuries.

According to LSP, the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2022 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 29-year-old Campti man was traveling southbound on Hart Road in foggy and wet road conditions. For reasons still under investigation, the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle then exited the road on the left traveled a short distance and struck a tree.

The driver not wearing a seat belt, was pinned in an area, under the dashboard after impact.

Natchitoches Parish Fire District #9 used extrication equipment to free the driver from the wreckage.

The driver was transported from the scene by EMS to a north Louisiana trauma center for treatment of injuries.

TFC J. Axsom assigned to LSP Troop-E Alexandria investigated the crash.

Deputies remind motorists to always wear your seat belts including any passengers. Seat belt and child restraint system use can significantly reduce your chances of severe injury or death in the event of a traffic crash.
