Driver rescued after vehicle accident, minor injuries sustained

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #6, NPSO Rescue, and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded to an iPhone crash detection report made to NATCOM 911 Center of a possible crash on Jan. 1 around 3 am on Hwy. 504 near Sandra Street in the Oak Grove community near Natchitoches according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Responding units arrived on scene, finding an overturned vehicle crash with one occupant in the vehicle. Deputies and NPFD #6 members were able to successfully remove the driver through the front windshield of the vehicle.

Deputies say the Hyundai passenger car was traveling westbound on La. Hwy 494 when the driver apparently loss control of the vehicle leaving the road on the right side. The vehicle then overturned coming to a rest on its side. Deputies say the female driver, sustained only minor lacerations and bruises. She did not require transport to a medical facility.

The crash was investigated by Troopers assigned to LSP Troop-E Alexandria. Lt. M. Powell and Sgt. C. Olliff assisted with traffic control. Deputies remind motorists to always wear your seat belt, it significantly reduces the chances of injury and death in a traffic crash.
