Natchitoches woman arrested for attempted murder after setting family’s home on fire

The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) arrested a Natchitoches woman for allegedly setting a house on fire with multiple children inside. Aladrain Daniels, 26, was booked into the Natchitoches Detention Center on Dec. 31  on 6 counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder and 1 count of Aggravated Arson.

Around 4 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Natchitoches Fire District # 6 responded to a house fire located in the 100 block of Rex Waterwell Road. Firefighters arrived to learn that a fire was discovered on the front porch but was extinguished by a responding sheriff’s deputy before their arrival. A young mother and her five children, all younger than 13 including an infant, were unharmed.

Deputies determined the fire was intentionally set and identified Daniels, a neighbor, as the suspect in the case. During the investigation, deputies learned Daniels had been by the victims’ home several times earlier in the day acting erratically.

Daniels was taken into custody on site and following an interview with investigators, she admitted her role in the fire.
