St. Mary’s, Immaculate Conception host 4th Annual Natchitoches March for Life

The community is invited to attend the fourth annual Natchitoches March for Life hosted by St. Mary’s Catholic School and The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church. The event is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 24 on the riverbank stage at 10 am, with the March beginning at 1 pm. Guest speakers this year include Catherine Burke Faucheaux and Morgan Weaver Rachal, who will both share their personal journeys and commitment to the cause of life. A more detailed schedule of events will be announced as details are finalized. This joyful celebration of life serves as an opportunity for students, families and the community to witness and express their faith in action.

“Our participation in our local March for Life reflects our Catholic identity and commitment to standing up for life in all its forms,” said Stephen Wren, principal of St. Mary’s. “This is not only an opportunity to demonstrate our beliefs but also to inspire our students to become leaders who courageously stand for justice and truth in society.”

St. Mary’s has a long history of supporting life-affirming initiatives through education, prayer, and service projects. This participation in the March for Life underscores the school’s commitment to living out its faith and promoting a culture of life in the broader community.

The national March for Life began in Washington, D.C. in January 1974. Every year, tens of thousands of pro-life supporters, march in support of life. This has become the largest human rights demonstration in the world. The national March for Life “is an inspiring, peaceful, vibrant, and joy-filled rally of women, men, young people, and children from all across the country.” Together, they “gather to celebrate life, from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death, and every moment in between.” (See http://www.marchforlife.org).

Local marches began to occur in cities throughout our nation to further expand this celebration of life into our communities. In Louisiana, rallies occur in major cities during the month of January. This is the fourth year for Natchitoches to host a Pro-Life Rally and March.
