NSU’s Track and Field team joined forces with the NSU Baseball team to present the second annual Speed Demon Shoot at the Natchitoches Parish Shooting Range on Feb. 8. The Sporting Clays event gave 32 shooters a chance to test their mettle at 12 stations with a wide variety of shooting scenarios. After the event, the competitors enjoyed a lunch prepared by the iconic Mike McConathy, former men’s basketball coach at NSU.
The Speed Demon Shoot raised around $3,500 for the NSU Tack and Field and Baseball teams. The funds raised will be used to assist the student-athletes with things like equipment purchases and welcome extras while competing in away games and matches.
The 75 strong NSU Track and Field team has made a strong start in its season with the men and women’s teams setting several school and conference records. The 45 young men of NSU Baseball will play their first game of the season at home on Friday, Feb. 14 at 6:30 against the University of Central Arkansas. Friday’s game will be the first of a three game series with games on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 6:30 pm and Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1 pm.
