School Board recognizes music educators, band students who participated in All-State ensemble

Katrice LaCour came before the Natchitoches Parish School Board at its Feb. 11 meeting to show members a plaque NSU Elementary and Middle Lab Schools received for the Standard of Excellence Award at the Louisiana Music Educators All State Conference, which is the highest award that can be awarded to a school and its conductor for their accomplishments.

LaCour is one part of an amazing group of music educators in Natchitoches Parish that includes Syll Young Olsen, Richard Hall and Evan Korn.

“What y’all have done is nothing short of amazing,” said Superintendent Dr. Grant Eloi.

This award recognizes the results of quality teaching and exemplary performance in Louisiana high school and middle school instrumental music programs. This is the Top award given by L.M.E.A. to a music program for their accomplishments and high standards.

The board then recognized the following students who were among 65 students selected to participate in the All-State ensemble from among students across the state who auditioned.

Other agenda items for the School Board meeting included:

Approve adhering to the language of the NPSB & Payne Law service contract language and issuing a 3 year renewal of said contract to include a 6.9% increase, effective March 1, 2025.

Approve the School Board Member Training Hours Resolution for the year 2024.

Approve the items of the Consent Agenda 6A through 6B.

Approve the 2023-2024 Audit Report as presented by Jennifer Hawkins
