First United Methodist Men’s Breakfast Club had the opportunity to host Head Demon Baseball Coach Chris Bertrand.
From playing two seasons at Bossier Parish Community College to continuing his career at Louisiana College, he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration. He later earned his MBA from LSU-Shreveport, further proving his commitment to success on and off the field.
His coaching journey began with the Alexandria Aces of the Texas Collegiate League in 2010, where he spent a summer as the pitching coach. He then served three years as an associate scout for the Kansas City Royals. His next stop was LSUS, where he spent seven seasons as the pitching coach and associate head coach, helping lead the team to back-to-back NAIA World Series appearances.
In the following years, he took on the head coach role at Texas-Tyler, guiding his team to a 119-69 record, three American Southwest Conference championships, and three NCAA Division III tournament appearances. Beyond the field, he also served as UT Tyler’s director of external marketing for the athletic department.
In 2016, he joined the Northwestern State Demons as the pitching coach before transitioning to coaching infielders and catchers. After seven years on staff, he was named the 13th head coach in Demon baseball history in 2022.
An Abbeville native, he is married to the former Lori Quigley of Shreveport, and together they have two children, Rayleigh and Callen. Whether it’s supporting his kids or treating his players and staff like family, he embodies what it means to be a dedicated husband, mentor, and father.
Coach Bertrand was introduced by Addison Evans, one of NSU Basketballs 2025 interns and member of the First United Methodist Church
