Thursday night, Natchitoches Central did what the Lady Chiefs do year after year in the first round of the LHSAA girls basketball playoffs:
NCHS controlled the second half and sent New Iberia Senior High south with a season-ending 59-43 defeat in a Division I Non-Select contest.
The No. 6-seeded Lady Chiefs (28-4) advance to a Monday evening home game against 11th-seeded East Ascension (21-5), which handled Northwood of Shreveport 54-40 Thursday night.
Lakeview, seeded No. 1 in Division IV Non-Select, had a first-round bye and will be at home Monday night against 17th-seeded Franklin, which made the long trip up to Plain Dealing and dominated in a 57-18 victory Thursday night.
