HAMMOND — There’s no waiting around for the top-seeded Lakeview High School girls basketball team as the state semifinals and finals are staged this week in Hammond at the LHSAA’s Marsh Madness tournament.
The Lakeview girls tip off the week’s schedule today at 1 against Midland, hoping to advance to a 4 p.m. Friday state championship game at the University Center on the Southeastern Louisiana University campus.
The Lady Gators (28-4), making their third consecutive state semifinal appearance, have wins of 36 and 37 points in their two playoff games. Lakeview reached the 2023 state finals but was halted in the semifinals last season by eventual state champion Arcadia.
Lakeview will meet a Lady Rebels team (24-11) that also has a long tradition of playoff success. Midland went on the road and won 50-37 over No. 4-seeded Merryville to earn its state semifinal appearance.
The other two top-seeded teams are in the other semifinal, No. 2 Arcadia (30-4) and third-seeded White Castle (25-9).
Streaming subscription coverage of Marsh Madness can be viewed at a fee on nfhsnetwork.com. A radio broadcast will air locally on 97.5 KDBH FM or 100.7 KZBL FM.
