NPSO Impact Team seizes drugs, makes multiple arrests

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NPSO) Impact Team successfully carried out a multi-unit operation on the night of March 7 aimed at reducing crime throughout the city and parish according to Sheriff Stuart Wright.

The operation, which focused on narcotics violations, gun violence, and burglaries, resulted in five arrests and the seizure of methamphetamine and marijuana.

The NPSO Impact Team, comprised of deputies from the patrol operations, criminal investigations, and narcotics drug enforcement unit, executed the operation with the goal of addressing concerns in the community regarding criminal activity.

Impact Team members responded and assisted the patrol operations bureau with a “shots fired” call in the Natchez community which resulted in three arrests near an apartment complex. Deputies were unable to local anyone firing a weapon in the area and no one was reported injured as a result of the “shots fired” call.

“We are committed to reducing crime and improving the safety of our citizens,” said Sheriff Wright. “This operation highlights our ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug activity and other criminal behavior, and we are pleased with the outcome, which will help to make Natchitoches a safer place for everyone.”

Arrested were:
*Kylar Beard, 24, of Natchez booked into LaSalle Corrections/Natchitoches Detention Center charged with Possession of CDS Schedule II Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Illegal Possession of CDS Schedule II Oxycodone, Possession of CDS I Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Appear Warrant and Resisting an Officer by Giving a False Name.

Beard on is probation due to a Simple Burglary conviction in 2020.

*16-year-old Natchez juvenile cited for Simple Possession of CDS I Marijuana and released into the custody of a guardian.
*24-year-old Natchez man cited for Simple Possession of CDS I Marijuana and released on citation pending court appearance in 10th Judicial District Court.
*24-year-old Campti female cited for Simple Possession of CDS I Marijuana and released on citation pending a court appearance.
*Braylon Reliford, 24, of Natchitoches arrested on a Failure to Appear Warrant in Natchitoches Parish. Reliford posted a cash bond and was released pending a court appearance.

Seized in the operation were approximately 25 grams of suspected methamphetamine and less than 28 grams of suspected marijuana. Deputies also impounded two vehicles for no insurance violations and issued four citations for traffic violations. The evidence was processed and will be submitted the crime lab for analysis.

Sheriff Wright said that he is pleased with the dedication of his deputies to make Natchitoches Parish a safe place and we will continue to work diligently to identify, locate and arrest individuals involved in criminal activity our parish.”
