Licensed Counselor speaks to Natchitoches Jr. High JAG students about mental wellness

Members of Natchitoches Junior High’s Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program had the opportunity to hear from James Harrison, a Licensed Professional Counselor, during a special guest speaker session on April 4, focused on mental wellness.

Harrison’s presentation was both engaging and informative, as he emphasized the importance of caring for mental health with the same priority as physical health. Speaking directly to the students, he shared practical strategies for managing stress, building resilience, and recognizing when to seek help.

His talk offered a clear, student-friendly guide to understanding mental wellness and highlighted how mental strength is vital for academic achievement, personal growth, and future career success.

The visit was part of JAG’s ongoing mission to provide students with valuable life skills that extend beyond the classroom. Students left the session feeling encouraged and motivated to be proactive about their mental well-being.

Program organizers expressed their gratitude to Harrison for taking the time to invest in the emotional and mental development of their students.
