St. Mary’s Catholic School is thrilled to celebrate an incredible achievement by one of its students, Cameron Ball, who has been named the first-place winner of the Knights of Columbus Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest—first at the state level, and now nationally.
Cameron’s insightful essay on the topic “What do you believe are the two most important virtues for an elected leader to possess?” stood out among hundreds of entries across the country. His writing impressed judges with its clarity, thoughtfulness, and depth, ultimately earning him top honors in this highly respected competition.
This opportunity began through the support of our local Knights of Columbus Council #1357, who sponsored the initial contest and encouraged student participation. Their dedication to promoting civic responsibility and Catholic values among youth played a key role in helping Cameron advance to the national level.
As the national winner, Cameron will be awarded an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. this summer. The experience includes airfare, hotel accommodations, transportation, access to historic and cultural attractions, and even spending money for his personal enjoyment during the trip.
“We are incredibly proud of Cameron,” said Stephen Wren, principal of St. Mary’s Catholic School. “His accomplishment is a reflection of his hard work, character, and the values we strive to instill in every student at St. Mary’s.”
We commend Cameron on this outstanding achievement and look forward to all he will accomplish in the future.
