Sydney Terrell pitched a four-hit shutout and struck out five and Morgan Robinson cracked a solo home run Friday to lead the Natchitoches Central softball team to a 3-0 bi-district round playoff win over visiting Haughton.

The 16th-seeded Lady Chiefs (14-15) will travel to Moss Bluff near Lake Charles Tuesday for their regional round Non-Select Division I regional round contest against No. 1 seeded Sam Houston (26-2).

NCHS scored an unearned run in the fourth inning to break a scoreless tie. After Robinson’s home run doubled the NCHS lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Ehren Guidroz contributed a run-scoring single to give Terrell some breathing room.

St. Mary’s (19-11), which blasted Westminster Academy 22-0 in a bi-district game last Thursday, plays its regional round Select Division IV regional round game Wednesday at 5 in south Louisiana at Riverside Academy.

In the baseball playoffs, NCHS will host Dutchtown in a best-of-three Non-Select Division I matchup beginning Friday evening at 6 at Chad Hargis Field. Dutchtown eliminated Airline in two games, 7-0 and 6-2 over the weekend. The seventh-seeded Chiefs had a first-round bye.

The St. Mary’s baseball team won’t open postseason until May 2 at St. Frederick in Monroe in the Select Division IV bracket.
