UPDATE: Sheriff’s Office investigates increase in ATV thefts, three recovered

Shortly after a news outlet featured information about a recent rash of ATV thefts in Natchitoches Parish. NPSO Detectives received a tip, which led to a search warrant signed by a 10th Judicial District Court Judge being executed in the 1500 block of Sabine Street in Natchitoches. As a result, three stolen ATVs were recovered.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. More information will be released as it becomes available.

As the NPSO continues to investigate crimes, it asks for the public’s help, thanks the media, and welcomes any tips.

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning to residents regarding a recent rash of all-terrain vehicle (ATV) thefts across multiple communities in the parish according to Sheriff Stuart Wright. 

Deputies are urging ATV owners to take extra precautions, such as:

  • Securing vehicles with locks or chains
  • Parking in well-lit, visible areas
  • Storing ATVs in locked garages or sheds when not in use
  • Reporting any suspicious activity immediately
  • Keep registration/vehicle identification numbers readily available in case of a theft for law enforcement purposes
