NCHS graduate Gillie headed to NFL with Seattle

Natchitoches native and former Natchitoches Central football player AJ Gillie is headed to the NFL as an undrafted free agent signee of the Seattle Seahawks.

Gillie (6-2, 328) was an honorable mention All-America choice by College Football Network and was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference and All-Louisiana selection after his senior season at UL Lafayette.

He has been a four-year starter for the Cajuns on the offensive line.

Gillie was one of two players on the Ragin’ Cajuns offensive line to start all 13 games this season. The Natchitoches Central product was a key leader on an offensive line that enabled Louisiana-Lafayette to rank fifth in FBS programs for tackles for loss allowed (3.58), 18th in total offense, and 44th in rushing offense.

One statistical service ranked him as the nation’s No. 42 pass protector.

A Class of 2018 graduate at NCHS, Gillie is the son of Bridget and Albert James Gillie Sr., and had a scholarship offer from the U.S. Military Academy (Army) along with ULL and other colleges.
