St. Mary’s Catholic School will celebrate its cherished tradition of May Crowning on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church.
May Crowning is a beautiful Catholic tradition that honors Mary, the Blessed Mother, during the month of May. It is a special moment in the life of the Church and a treasured custom for the St. Mary’s school community.
All St. Mary’s students, from Kindergarten through 12th grade, will participate in the celebration. Continuing a long-standing tradition, students will process together down Church Street to the Basilica, led by the senior boys carrying a statue of Mary. Each student will offer fresh flowers to place on the altar in Mary’s honor, symbolizing their love and devotion to our Blessed Mother.
This beloved tradition reflects the spirit of the timeless hymn: “O Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today, Queen of the Angels, Queen of the May.”
All family members, alumni, parishioners, and community friends are warmly invited to join St. Mary’s for this special celebration of faith.
