In a unanimous decision during its April 28 meeting, the Natchitoches City Council officially confirmed the appointment of Tim Tousek as the city’s new Utility Director, effective June 1, 2025.
The appointment follows the requirements outlined in Section 4-7 of the city’s Home Rule Charter, which stipulates that the Utility Director must be appointed with council approval. Tousek was recommended for the position based on his extensive experience and long-standing service within the city’s utility department.
Council members praised Ardoin’s dedication to the city and highlighted his proven ability to lead, especially during challenging times.
“Matt Anderson and I came into service around the same time, and it wasn’t long before we were tested with hurricanes and winter storms,” Mayor Ronnie Williams Jr. recalled of the former director. “The Utility Director knows our systems inside and out — the strengths and the weaknesses — and he’s always willing to answer the call, no matter the time of day, night, weekend, or holiday.”
Tousek introduced himself to those in attendance and spoke briefly about his career. With nearly 20 years of experience in the city’s utility department, he has worked across all areas, including electric, water, and sewer operations. He previously served as the city’s lead electrician for 17 years and stepped into the role of Water Superintendent after his predecessor’s retirement.
Tousek holds a Level 4 certification in both water and sewer services, a requirement set by the state of Louisiana. His cross-training and hands-on experience with all aspects of the city’s utility infrastructure, from lift stations to water plants to electrical distribution systems, made him the clear choice for the role.
“I’m proud to serve,” Tousek said. “I look forward to continuing to work with our team to keep our city’s utility services running safely and efficiently for our residents.”
City leaders emphasized the importance of having someone with Tousek’s knowledge and commitment at the helm of such a critical department, especially given the unpredictable challenges utilities often face.
“We are confident that Tim will continue to serve the citizens of Natchitoches with the same dedication and professionalism he has shown throughout his career,” said Mayor Williams.
The council concluded by thanking Tousek for his willingness to step into the leadership role and for his ongoing commitment to the community.
