Sidney Evans reigns as 57th King at St. Denis Art League’s annual Spring Festival Presentation

Sidney Bunyan Evans III reigned as King of the St. Denis Art League Spring Festival Court at its 57th annual ball and presentation on April 26.

Mr. Evans is a lifelong resident of Natchitoches and has been an active part of the community. He has volunteered in numerous civic, community, and State organizations. He has been a member of the Natchitoches Area Jaycees, and has served on the Board of St. Mary’s Catholic School, the Board of the Southern Forest Heritage Museum, the Board of the LSU College of Agriculture Alumni Association, and is a Past President of the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Foundation. Also, Evans currently serves on the Board of Directors of Exchange Bank, is on the Executive Committee and Director Emeritus of the Louisiana Forestry Association and is a member of the Society of American Foresters. He is Chairman of the Natchitoches Soil and Water Conservation District, has served as Vice President of the Louisiana Association of Conservation Districts, and is Chairman of the Association’s Forestry Committee. He is Vice President of the Natchitoches 4-H Foundation and in 2023 was inducted into the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame.

Evans earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from Louisiana State University in 1987 and manages family forests in North, Central, and Southwest Louisiana. He is married to the former Joelle Dalton. They are parents to three daughters and have four grandsons. Evans is a member of First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches.

The Evans family has participated in the Spring Festival for many years. His wife was presented as a Lady of the Court in 1983. His daughter, Courtney Elizabeth Evans Sprunk, served as an Usher and reigned as Queen in 2009. His daughter Laura Leigh Evans Romig, served as a Herald and an Usher, and was presented as a Lady of the Court in 2012. His daughter, Anne Dalton Evans, served as a Herald and an Usher, and reigned as Queen in 2017.
