‘Gospel & Grub II’ set for May 4 to benefit Lydia Rachal at First Baptist Church

A local church is combining music, food, and family fun for a good cause this weekend. “Gospel & Grub II,” a free community event hosted by First Baptist Church, will be held on Sunday, May 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. on the church grounds located on 2nd Street, also known as “The Hill.”

The event will feature live gospel music by The Amazing Rhythm Disciples, a dynamic band known for its uplifting performances and soulful sound. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy an afternoon of music and fellowship.

“Gospel & Grub II” is a benefit for Lydia Rachal, a local child battling Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare genetic condition often referred to as childhood Alzheimer’s. The event is part of a broader effort to raise awareness and support for Lydia and her family, with purple “Sanfilippo Strong” ribbons symbolizing the cause.

In addition to live music, the event will include burger plates served for donations, bounce houses and a kids zone for family-friendly fun, and a special opportunity to pose for photos with Star Wars characters — a nod to the event’s placement on May the Fourth, popularly known as “Star Wars Day.”

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated to help support Lydia’s ongoing medical needs.

For more information or to contribute, attendees can scan the QR code featured on event materials or visit the church’s website or social media pages.

Organizers invite the entire community to come out for a fun and meaningful afternoon, combining gospel celebration with heartfelt giving.
